Cajun food coming soon to Morgan Hill

Shouldn’t there be a stop sign at the end of Fisher Avenue where
it intersects with Railroad Avenue? There is a yellow directional
‘arrow’ sign posted but it is hard to see it at night.
“Shouldn’t there be a stop sign at the end of Fisher Avenue where it intersects with Railroad Avenue? There is a yellow directional ‘arrow’ sign posted but it is hard to see it at night. Also, when a vehicle turns onto Fisher and doesn’t bother to dim their lights, it causes instant blindness to the other driver forcing them to quickly step on the brakes to avoid the possibility of running through the intersection and ending up on the train tracks directly behind the yellow sign. OK, yes, this has happened to me on several occasions. I am not from Morgan Hill, but I do deliver newspapers in that area late at night and would feel safer if there was a BIG RED STOP sign posted. Thank you.”

& Red Phone: Dear Make Them Stop, Red Phone contacted Scott Creer, senior civil engineer with the city, who said the intersection in question was reviewed and a stop sign will be installed on Fisher Drive at the intersection of Railroad Avenue. It should be done in the next three weeks, depending on the weather.

Good caller, you should feel much safer soon. Thanks for calling.

Friendly reminder: Pick up dog poop

“I am sick and tired of picking up other people’s dog poop. I have two dogs of my own, and whenever I walk them I bring a plastic bag. This is just a nice thing to do, people. So next time you walk your dog, bring a bag.”

& Red Phone: Dear Poop Tired, Red Phone couldn’t agree more. There’s nothing worse than accidentally stepping in a pile of dog poop. Those who have dogs and walk them in public need to ensure they take home anything left behind by their dog. Good caller, thanks for the friendly reminder.

Yes, it is illegal to take recyclables

“Lately I have seen people going through trash and recycle bins on my street the night before trash day. I know that times are hard but it has been bothering me. Is going through people’s recycle bins illegal? If so, I think police officers should enforce this law.”

& Red Phone: Dear Bothered, yes it is illegal to take recyclables from bins on the street. But, as you may have read in a recent edition, in the first nine months of this year, police arrested 1,867 people – a 17 percent increase from last year when nearly 1,600 people were arrested locally. So, you can call the police and have them chase down the can bandits, or you can let them be and allow police to focus on more important issues. However, if the thieves are leaving a mess up and down the street, you just might want to reconsider the previous advice. Anyway, hope that answers your questions.
