Spotlight of the Week

Lou Mirviss, president of the Morgan Hill Rotary Club, presented Morgan Hill Unified School District elementary school students Jasmine Leiser, Kevin Le, Adrian Espiritu and Gabriela Castro with Outstanding Student Achievement awards.

The children also received U.S. saving bonds during the club’s Dec. 13 meeting at the Golden Oak Restaurant.

Leiser attends Jackson Elementary School and was accompanied by Principal Karen Tavares and teacher Brenda Brazil, who were also recognized.

Lee attends Barrett Elementary School and was accompanied by Principal Lisa Atlas and teacher Brandi Pierce, who were also recognized.

Espiritu attends Burnett Elementary School and was accompanied by Principal Barbara Neal and teacher Kerry Richards, who were also recognized.

Castro attends El Toro Elementary School and was accompanied by Principal Patrick Buchser, teacher Jacqui Kanode and instructor aide Maureen Reincke, who were also recognized.

All public and private Morgan Hill schools annually select one outstanding student for the honor. Awards are announced on a rotating basis throughout the year.

The club’s recognition program is part of its ongoing commitment to serve the youth of the community.
