Soccer: Top-seeded Santa Cruz edges LO girls in CCS, 2-1

Live Oak High’s girls soccer team nearly knocked off top-seeded Santa Cruz, but the Acorns were unable to extend their season in a 2-1 loss to the Cardinals in the quarterfinals of the Central Coast Section Division III playoffs Saturday at Aptos.

Alissa Pham scored for ninth-seeded Live Oak, which finished the season 10-9-2 overall.

Santa Cruz (13-2-5) advanced to play King’s Academy in the semifinals at Valley Christian at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
