Morgan Hill – After taking one on the chin in what figures to be its toughest game of the season, the Sobrato High football team will get back at it again this week, facing The King’s Academy on Saturday at 6pm at Live Oak.
Sobrato (0-1-1) enters the game looking for its first win of the season, while at the same time trying to pin the first loss on the visiting Knights (2-0).
The fact that The King’s Academy enters the game unbeaten is somewhat surprising, The Knights have looked solid in wins over Overfelt (21-14) and Bay Football League foe California School for the Deaf (49-6)
The Knights offense is led by junior running back Jacob Bliss. Bliss leads the team with 179 yards running on only 18 carries and also has caught two passes for 71 yards and has scored three touchdowns on the season.
Bliss is complemented by senior running back Steven Lim. Lim has touched the ball 16 times and racked up 162 yards and two touchdowns as the Knights have outscored their opponents 70-20 so far this season.
The defense is led by senior lineback Josiah Auer. The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder has 20 tackles in the first two games and has notched two sacks and recovered a fumble.
Sobrato, coming off a 59-0 loss to Seaside after a first week tie against Cupertino, will need to continue to get solid production from its running game.
After rushing for 98 yards in the season-opener against the Pioneers, the Bulldogs were held to a net-total of 10 yards last week, a total that was dragged down by a 33-yard loss on a bad snap on a punt. Sophomore Anthony Zizzo carried a bulk of the load with 47 yards on eight carries and Sobrato will again count on several backs to help move the ball against the Knights.
