Acorns defeat Bulldogs, 6-1, in early season matchup
Morgan Hill – Although the Live Oak Acorn boys tennis team is in the midst of a rebuilding season, they still had an advantage over the young, inexperienced Sobrato Bulldog team. The Acorns beat the Bulldogs, 6-1, at home on Thursday afternoon.
The Acorns No. 1 singles player, junior Eric Matsumoto started things off by defeating Andrew Le, 6-0, 6-0. Live Oak freshman Jimmy Shedden followed with a win over Ron Pollard, 6-0, 6-2. Kevin Parsons notched a win for the Acorns with his win over Chris Rice, 6-2, 6-1 and Danny Smith defeated Casey Schenkelberg, 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles action, Live Oak’s No. 1 pairing of seniors Scott Alexander and Jake Plafker beat John Yoon and Sam Paveza, 6-2, 6-0. The Acorns No.2 doubles team of Andrew Wisneski and Mason Lammers battled John Kindfler and Frank Davis for the, 7-5, 6-2 win.
The Bulldogs lone win came from No. 3 doubles team Justin Haim and Ashley Marroquin as they defeated Acorns Mike Acevedo and BJ Heinan, 6-3, 6-1.
Live Oak next hosts Gilroy on Tuesday and takes on Salinas on Wednesday.
