Auto theft
A 34-year-old man was charged with stolen vehicle and possession of stolen property between noon April 3 and April 8 on Colony Avenue at West San Martin Avenue. The suspect, who was found asleep in the driver’s seat of the stolen vehicle, alleged the car belonged to a friend. It was reported stolen with the San Jose Police Department.
A 35-year-old man was charged with auto theft, possession of stolen property and a violation of probation between noon April 13 and 9:45 p.m. April 14 on the 1700 block of Maple Avenue in Morgan Hill. A resident called in a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway and deputies responded, finding the suspect who was on formal probation. The vehicle was confirmed stolen from MHPD.
Burglary
Someone stole an electric metal cutter valued at $1,200 from the garage of a residence on the 13000 block of Colony Avenue at Palomino Drive in Morgan Hill between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. April 15.
Petty theft
Someone stole gasoline from a holding tank and took a battery out of a field truck between 5:30 p.m. April 18 and 9 a.m. April 20 on the 3500 block of Canada Road in Gilroy.
Drugs
A 41-year-old woman was charged with possession of methamphetamine and being under the influence of a controlled substance at 7:15 p.m. April 17 on Turlock Avenue at Fitzgerald in Gilroy.
A 35-year-old man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 7:20 a.m. April 16 on Watsonville Road at Branston Court in Morgan Hill.
A 41-year-old man was charged with possession of methamphetamine at 10:35 a.m. April 9 on Leavesley Road at Crews Avenue in Gilroy.
Grand theft
Someone stole a video camera, an audio tuner, four memory cards and a carrying case between noon March 29 and 7:29 p.m. April 16 on the 13000 block of Depot Street in San Martin. Items stolen were worth an estimated $2,089.
Identity theft
An unknown suspect used a victim’s name and social security number to file a fraudulent tax return with the Internal Revenue Service between 12:01 a.m. Jan. 1 and 10 a.m. April 14 on the 1600 block of Doral Court at Glen Lane in Gilroy.
An unknown suspect used a victim’s name and Social Security number to open multiple fraudulent credit accounts between 8:15 p.m. Feb. 1 and 10 a.m. March 18 on the 4000 block of Pacheco Highway.
Someone made three unauthorized payments using the victim’s Wells Fargo bank account, totaling $254.85 between 8 a.m. Feb. 2 and 8 a.m. April 10 on the 10000 block of Center Avenue in Gilroy.
Someone opened two credit card accounts in the victim’s name and charged approximately $15,169.72 between noon March 19 and 1 p.m. April 11 on the 14000 block of Foothill Avenue in San Martin.
Vandalism
Someone pushed over two mailboxes causing $400 in damages between 6:30 p.m. April 10 and 6 p.m. April 11 on the 15000 block of Uvas Road in Morgan Hill.
Trespassing
A 75-year-old man refused to leave the victim’s property and was then restrained by the victim until officers arrived at 1:15 p.m. April 11 on the 9600 block of Moreno Lane in Gilroy.
