Drugs
A 21-year-old male was charged with transportation of marijuana at 8:33 p.m. April 10 on Monterey Highway at Vineyard Boulevard in Morgan Hill after officers made an enforcement stop for an expired registration. One occupant stated there was marijuana in the vehicle, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office report. A search turned up two glass jars containing marijuana. The suspect also had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.
A 57-year-old man was charged with possession of a controlled substance at 7:30 p.m. April 6 on Monterey Highway at Bailey Avenue in Morgan Hill. Officers located three glass smoking pipes, a small Ziploc baggie with prescription pills and three pieces of methamphetamine weighing a total of 4.8 grams.
A 50-year-old man was charged with possession of methamphetamine for sales and transportation of methamphetamine at 4:15 p.m. March 29 on San Martin Avenue at Mammini Court in San Martin. Officers stopped a vehicle for having no plates and then noticed a piece of carpet that was attached with a screw. “Based on my training and experience, I know criminals hide controlled substances in concealed areas,” the officer’s report states. Behind the carpet was 2.5 grams of methamphetamine. Officers also found two pay/owe sheets and $1,918.05 in cash.
A 47-year-old man and a 39-year-old man were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia at 1:34 a.m. April 10 on the 5800 block of Monterey Road in Gilroy.
A 56-year-old man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 10:44 a.m. April 7 on the 400 block of Bolsa Road in Gilroy.
A 38-year-old man was charged with possession of a controlled substance and a probation violation at 10:40 p.m. April 5 on Tomkins Court at Murray Avenue in Gilroy.
A 38-year-old man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia between 8:18 and 8:25 a.m. March 31 on the zero block of San Bruno Avenue in Gilroy.
Sex offender failure to register
A 39-year-old man, between 12:01 a.m. June 1, 2015 and 11:10 a.m. April 8 on Whitehurst Avenue in Gilroy, failed to report his address change after moving despite being a sex registrant required to register for life. The suspect  was living at an address on Partridge Avenue in Gilroy since at least July 2015. He failed to notify Gilroy PD he moved into their jurisdiction.
Grand theft
Someone, between 3:50 an 4 p.m. March 30 on the 4100 block of Canada Road in Gilroy, stole landscaping paver stones from the victim’s residence valued at $1,500.
Someone, between 10 a.m. March 25 and 10 a.m. March 28 on the 13000 block of Kimble Court in San Martin, cut through a locked chained gate and stole the victim’s Pace Gardening Trailer. The trailer was worth about $5,000 and contained about $5,660 worth of gardening equipment.
Mail theft
Someone, between midnight March 1 and 4:46 p.m. March 29 on the 400 block of Roosevelt Avenue in San Martin, stole mail from the victim’s residence.
Petty theft
Someone, between 4 and 4:50 p.m. April 11 on Santa Teresa Boulevard in Gilroy, stole property from two separate victims inside the Gavilan College Gymnasium. One victim claimed about $927 worth of items lost, while the other victim reported $280 in lost stuff.
Theft by credit card
Someone, between noon March 20 and noon March 22 on the 10000 block of Foothill Avenue in Gilroy, purchased $1,995 worth of merchandise from three separate locations in Washington, D.C. using the victim’s debit card number.
Vandalism
Someone, between midnight and noon March 19 on the 6700 block of Esther Lake Drive in Morgan Hill, broke a windshield of a vehicle and the rear window of another vehicle. The suspect threw large rocks and bricks to break the glass. Estimated cost of damages was $1,500.
Someone, between 4:30 p.m. April 1 and 6 a.m. April 2 on the 100 block of North Street in San Martin, cut the locks on three porta-potties and stole toilet paper. The suspect also vandalized the property with white spray paint. Cost to replace the locks was $80.
Someone, between 10 p.m. April 10 and 7:30 a.m. April 11 on Buena Vista Avenue at New Road in Gilroy, broke all the windows and several lights of a vehicle.
Someone, between 10 p.m. April 9 and 9 a.m. April 10, on the 12000 block of Center Avenue in San Martin, spray painted Spanish words on the victim’s vehicle and slashed three tires. Estimated damage was $1,000.
Speeding
A 19-year-old man was charged with exhibition of speed and failure to provide proof of insurance at 10:32 p.m. April 6 on Obata Court at Obata Way in Gilroy. Suspect was doing “donuts” on a public roadway, according to the sheriff’s report.
Stolen vehicle
A vehicle was reported stolen between 7 p.m. March 31 and 6:30 a.m. April 1 on the 12000 block of Watsonville Road in Morgan Hill. The suspect stole the vehicle from the driveway of the victim’s residence.
Recovered stolen vehicle
Officers recovered a stolen vehicle out of San Jose at 9:54 p.m. April 12 on Burbank Avenue at Monterey Road in San Martin.
Officers recovered a stolen vehicle out of San Jose at 3:39 a.m. April 3 on the 90 block of Acorn Court in Morgan Hill.
