Deputies pulled over a 30-year-old San Martin man driving a Ford SUV for a traffic violation, near Monterey Road and San Martin Avenue, 1:40 p.m. Friday. A license check by deputies revealed that the license plate on the vehicle belonged to a Honda, not a Ford.

The man told the deputy that his father owns the Ford, and the plate belongs to his wife’s Honda. Because he could not renew the registration on the Ford, he removed the rear plate from the Ford and installed the plate from his wife’s Honda to avoid getting pulled over by law enforcement officers. Deputies issued the man a citation.
