    18, and never received the money.
    Grand theft

  • A Gilroy woman received a telephone call from a person promising her she could earn $300,000 if she paid the caller $3,750, which she did, between 12:30 p.m. Aug. 17 and 11 a.m. Aug. 18, and never received the money.

  • The fence surrounding a property on the 10700 block of Rucker Avenue was broken and a blue rear tine tiller worth about $500 was stolen, between 12 p.m. Aug. 10 and 12 p.m. Aug. 13.

Marijuana cultivation

  • Michael John Tellez, 26, Javier Benavides, 39, both of Morgan Hill, and Cesar Franco Jr., 28, of La Grande, 4:11 p.m. Aug. 22, on the 500 block of Live Oak Avenue in Morgan Hill for negligent discharge of a firearm, marijuana cultivation and possession of marijuana for sale after a homeowner in the area reported them for shooting about 10 shots towards a house.

Under the influence

  • Rafael Tizoc Marquez, 31, of Gilroy, 7 p.m. Aug. 20, near Monterey Road and Madrone Parkway in Morgan Hill.

Drunk in public

  • William Yates, 53, of San Martin, 6 a.m. Aug. 20, on the 12900 block of Center Avenue in San Martin.

  • Michael Taylor Morse, 19, of Morgan Hill, 5:02 a.m. Aug. 29, near Tennant Avenue and Hill Road in Morgan Hill when police responded to a report of a dead body but instead found Morse, “intoxicated to the point that he was unable to care for his own safety.”

Auto theft

  • Omar Davalos, 23, of San Jose, 12 p.m. Aug. 19, near Bailey Avenue and U.S. 101 in Morgan Hill for auto theft, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance after deputies found him napping in a stolen 1992 gray Dodge caravan on the side of the road.

Possession of stolen property

  • Joe Alfred Castro, 44, of Gilroy, 11 a.m. Aug. 26, on the 15000 block of Olive Street in Morgan Hill for possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.

Vandalism

  • Alma Delia Knowles, 30, of Gilroy, 4:44 p.m. Aug. 25, on the 2500 block of Bridal Path Drive after she slashed a man’s tires and threw his cell phone into the pool during a domestic dispute.

OTHER INCIDENTS

Residential burglary

  • The window of a residence on the 1400 block of Stonebridge Court in Morgan Hill was shattered, multiple rooms were ransacked and several jewelry boxes were left empty, between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 22. The victims are still confirming what was stolen.

  • The rear sliding glass door of a residence on the 8800 block of El Matador Drive was lifted off its tracks and an iPod, miscellaneous jewelry and other electronic equipment were stolen from inside, between 2 and 6 p.m. Aug. 22.

  • Entry was forced into a residence on the 1200 block of Bloomfield Avenue and about $1,680 worth of electronic equipment, clothing and other property was stolen, between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 20.

  • A man described as a 40-year-old Hispanic man was seen crawling through the bathroom window of a residence on the 13600 block of Llagas Avenue in San Martin, and the victim returned home to find $1,100 in cash and a laptop computer were stolen, between 5 p.m. Aug. 19 and 9 a.m. Aug. 25.

Stolen vehicle

  • A 1999 white Acura Integra was stolen from the 1500 block of Chiri Court in San Martin, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 19.

Identity theft

  • A Morgan Hill woman’s social security number was used to obtain income, between 12 a.m. March 1, 2009 and 1:30 p.m. Aug. 19.

  • A Morgan Hill man’s name, date of birth and social security was used between 12 p.m. Jan. 1, 2003 and 12 p.m. Dec. 31, 2009, and the victim now owes the Internal Revenue Service $70,000 to $80,000.

Recovered vehicle

  • A 1991 blue Chevrolet Astro belonging to a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints in San Jose and thought to be stolen from the church’s parking lot, between 4:30 and 4:34 p.m. Aug. 18, turned up at a tow yard and the victim found out that a representative of the church had the vehicle towed.

Recovered stolen vehicle

  • A 1992 white Honda Accord stolen out of Gilroy was found in a parking lot on the 900 block of Montebello Drive, 11:51 p.m. Aug. 26.

Theft of license plate

  • The rear license plate was stolen from a 1998 white Dodge truck on the 300 block of Lena Avenue, between 3 p.m. Aug. 17 and 7:30 a.m. Aug. 18.
