For the past 16 years I have lived on Dunne Avenue and have watched, read and arm-chair supported protests for building huge homes on small lots (Dunne and Hill), Lego-looking low-income housing projects (Dunne and the railroad tracks) and fast food restaurants (every corner of Dunne and Condit), traffic lights and merge lanes and all of the painted directions on our neighborhood streets.
As I drive over the freeway now, a more than occasional semi or tractor-trailer is unable to make or missed the turn on Condit because of the narrowness of the turn lane.
What in the world will the Ford and Harley motorcycle trailers do in unfamiliar territory? How many gears will be shifted as they chug past Nordstrom and try to U-turn at Peppertree?
And the test drivers. Harleys straight up Dunne? SUVs, emissions, wheels screeching past idling school buses. Who do we see about enforcement of any imposed restrictions? The City Council? The crossing guards at Nordstrom School?
Wake up you guys … It’s not about money! Save our city and the family atmosphere we are trying to create.
