BOYS GOLF: Acorns clinch second place; set for BVAL team, individual tourneys

San Mateo wins 46-0
MORGAN HILL — All the big-game trimmings were in place at the Outdoor Sports Center, where the Live Oak Acorns hosted their first Friday night rugby match in five years against San Mateo. Both teams fed off the energy of a boisterous crowd of roughly 300 fans.

While the Acorns played with heart and resolve, the Warriors showed their mettle as defending Skyhawk Conference champions, riding their speed and athleticism to a 46-0 victory.

San Mateo punched in four tries and three conversions to lead 26-0 at the end of a physical opening half. The Warriors put four more unconverted tries across from there.

Playing well in the losing effort for Live Oak were Erik Poulsen, a senior prop, and junior fullback Andrew Pitzer.

The Acorns will host Pleasanton in nonleague play at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Outdoor Sports Center.
