The Live Oak girls golf team won a pair of Blossom Valley Athletic League matches last week.
The Acorns, behind medalist performances from Candace Lee and Kim Janice, who each carded 46, defeated Lincoln 239-355 at Pruneridge Golf Course last Tuesday.
Live Oak followed up that victory with another on Thursday against Sobrato at Gavilan Golf Course.
Sobrato’s Elli McMann earned medalist honors with her 41, but the Acorns took the match 242-294.
Danelle Schwegler had the low round for the Acorns with a 42.
VOLLEYBALL
Sobrato High launched into Blossom Valley Athletic League Mount Hamilton action last week and notched a pair of straight set victories.
The Bulldogs (6-5 overall, 2-0 league) knocked off Willow Glen 25-17, 25-16, 25-15 and Leigh 25-21, 25-18, 26-24.
Sobrato faces a pair of tough league road tests this week, starting with Santa Teresa (6 p.m.) on Tuesday and finishing with Leland (5 p.m.) on Thursday.
o The Live Oak girls volleyball team improved to 2-0 in the Blossom Valley Athletic League’s Mount Hamilton Division on Thursday, beating Evergreen 3-1.
With the four-set victory, the Acorns improve to 7-3 overall on the year.
The Acorns controlled the game from the onset, beating Evergreen 25-22 in the first set. After falling in the second set (15-25), the Acorns rolled to two-straight set victories (25-20, 25-19).
Fa Saulala led the Acorns with 13 kills. Savanna Hartman finished with seven kills and four aces in the victory.
“They did a good job,” head coach James Uthes said. “They have not slowed down their play. They’ve kept the same level of play this year.”
The Acorns host Willow Glen at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
CROSS COUNTRY
Oakwood School cross country teams, which return a pair of Central Coast Section qualifiers from last season ¬- Bailey Mancini and Aaron Bagheri – kicked off the regular season at a Mission Trail Athletic League Center Meet on Thursday.
Junior Sarah Langerman finished 14th overall in a field of 37 runners from the seven schools in the division.
About 70 runners competed in the boys race, freshman standout Ben Millward was the first finisher for Oakwood, taking 13thoverall. The next finishers, Bailey Mancini, Aaron Bagheri, Harjot Saran and Matthew McGregor were close together in a solid group in the top half of the field.
Keegan Dahm made his season debut, and Bob Bagheri, Gourav Divan and Jeff Henderson all improved their mile times.
