A white male, thought to be armed, robbed the Bank of the West at 206 Tennant Station Way at 3:03 p.m. Monday.
The suspect, who is described as having light brown hair, 5’7” or 5’8” tall, weighing between 160-170 lb., allegedly presented a teller at the bank with a note, that said he had a gun. The suspect made off with $1,300 in cash and fled on foot, south on Monterey Road.
Morgan Hill Police Lt. Joe Sampson said Monday that he had heard reports confirming the $1,300 amount – in $100 and some $20 bills – but that he would wait until his investigating team made their reports to say anything more definite.
The suspect was wearing a bright orange T-shirt, jean shorts and a black baseball cap. He has crooked teeth, according to witnesses, and a goatee.
Sampson said the alleged robber had spent some time in Mountain Mike’s Pizza Parlor, just next door to the bank, immediately before the robbery, had a drink and then went off to the bank. Police were interviewing several witnesses from Mountain Mike’s.
No gun was seen.
The last bank robbery took place on Jan. 24, also at the same Bank of the West. That suspect was described as a white male, approximately 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and from 155 to 160 pounds.
