Morgan Hill’s Centennial Recreation Center has been designated as an official voter registration location today from 3-7 p.m. today as part of the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters’ Office’s recognition of National Voter Registration Day.
Today (Sept. 27) is the largest one-day effort to register voters in the country, according the registrar’s announcement. More than 2,000 organizations across the nation will join forces today to implement voter registration drives in order to ensure that every eligible voter has an opportunity to register and vote in the 2016 election.
“This election is important, and every eligible American should have the chance to weigh in,” said Registrar of Voters Shannon Bushey. “We want to make sure that every citizen who wants the opportunity to vote on Election Day has their registration up to date by the deadline of October 24.”
Residents can register to vote and receive a variety of fun giveaways at the following locations:
• Morgan Hill Centennial Recreation Center, 171 W. Edmundson Ave., Morgan Hill, 3-7 p.m.
• Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library (Caret Plaza), 1 Washington Sq., San Jose, 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Westfield Valley Fair Mall, 2855 Stevens Creek Blvd., Santa Clara, 3-8 p.m.
• Stanford Shopping Center, 660 Stanford Shopping Center, Palo Alto, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
• Educational Park Library, 1772 Educational Park Dr., San Jose, noon-4 p.m.
• San Pedro Square Market, 97 N. San Pedro St., San Jose, 11:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
• Gilroy Library 350 W. 6th St., Gilroy, 2–7p.m.
• Social Services Agency, 1867 Senter Rd., San Jose 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
• Social Service Agency, 1130 W. Middlefield Rd., Mountain View, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 8 Presidential General Election is Oct. 24. Register online at Register to Vote. Voters wishing to check their registration status may do so on the website at Check Your Registration Status.
Voters should complete a new registration form if they have moved, changed their name or would like to change their political party preference. To register to vote in Santa Clara County, a voter must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, a Santa Clara County resident and not imprisoned or on parole for a felony.
