Doggone it, Red Phone, We’re Holding an Event

Prior to placing this call to the Red Phone, the caller had asked the editor for “better placement” of the event this weekend. A small part of the lengthy call to the Crimson Crusader is included below.

“We have an event coming up on Saturday called the Wag-About. And we’d like people to know about it. Our committee mission is to fund a dog park in Morgan Hill, and we are getting no help from the city. The function is from 11am to 3pm at the Cultural Center. We’d like some articles placed more prominently in the Morgan Hill Times so that our citizens can see what we our trying to do for the community and the dogs in the community. There are 10,000 dogs that need a place to run unleashed and safe.”

Red Phone:

The Red Phone appreciates your puppy love and wishes you the best of luck with event. However, the Morgan Hill Times strives to include as many local event as possible for our readers. We’re Morgan Hill’s newspaper and we serve its residents. With more than 36,000 people in our fair city, you can imagine the competition that exists for space in our calendar of events. The Times treats every organization the same regardless of the cause by including upcoming events in our calendar section which prints each issue on Page Two and in our digest. Some events are part of a larger effort to bring about needed services, raise funds for a worthy cause, or change something for the better of our community. The Times will often write an article about such efforts. In this case, we did that in our Oct. 18 issue and repeatedly mentioned the event in our calendar section and digest. We also included the Dog Park event at the cultural center in the Community Highlight box on the front page of today’s and Tuesday’s editions. It really doesn’t get much better than that. Nonetheless, we appreciate the caller’s enthusiasm and dedication to bringing the park to fruition.
