Judges awarded cash prizes to 14 projects in the 2005 Earth Day Art & Science Fair, sponsored by the City of Morgan Hill.

Highlights of the April 22 show at the caommunity center included a life-size dinosaur made from recycled beverage containers and chicken wire and a comprehensive study on why some people don’t recycle. Winners received cash prizes from $25-$250.

Elizabeth Levine won the “Teachers Award” and her eighth grade physics class at Carden Academy won Best of Show with their pontoon boat and exhibit. The boat, made from recycled beverage containers, was sent out to sea while the students documented their discovery and presented their findings in a report called “impressive” by judges. Levine won $500 to use in her classroom.

Brownie Troop 440 led by Susan Lillie won the $100 first-place award with a project on making toys and games from beverage containers in the K-3rd division. Other division winners were 2nd: Rahul Pendyala; 3rd: Kristyn Lerma.
