In regards to George Panos’ remarks in Friday’s edition of The Times concerning the recall election, let’s set the record straight.

I’ll agree with you that $300,000 is a lot of money. Let’s put it in perspective with the $30 million to $50 million in over-budget expense that the senior board members have never acknowledged. Don’t bother with a calculator, $300,000 is 1/100th of $30 million.

If the cost of a recall election is “fiscally irresponsible,” what about allowing the district to spend $30 million over budget on three construction projects? Talk about bake sales. If Barrett Elementary School cost $20 million, what could you do with the $30 million dumped down the rat hole and created by one bad decision after another.

Gee, the Morgan Hill School District could have built another 1.5 elementary schools. Maybe we could hire more classified employees? Maybe we could have the highest paid teachers. Maybe we could provide our students with a better education?

Mr. board president, please answer one question for all of us who are really concerned about financial irresponsibility. How did you and the other senior board members allow the district to over spend at least $30 million on three construction project?

Perhaps an earlier answer to the question wouldn’t have angered so many people who want you and the other board members out of office at any cost.
