The Pride 12U Green wrapped up a fine season at the Western World Series in Everett, Wa. last week. The girls started out strong, winning their first two games in pool play, but then dropped two straight to be eliminated from the tournament.

Following are the results:

PRIDE 11, Modesto Team Action 6

The Pride started off strong, as the offense wracked up 11 runs in the opener. Ally Barsanti and Shayna Osuna led the way with two hits each. Kelly Hillman and Frankie Kellett shared the pitching duties as the Pride cruised.

PRIDE 6, Cupertino Inferno 5

The Pride moved into excellent position as the first seed going into elimination play with a tight 6-5 win over the Inferno. The Pride exploded for five runs in the second inning, as Shayna Osuna led off with a walk, Amanda Whitling sacrificed Osuna to soecnd, and Amanda Mandy Kline follwed with a walk. Kelly Hillman followed with a bunt single to load the bases. Frankie Kellett singled to score Osuna, and Kelly Henningsen drove in two more with a clutch single. Brittany Vaughn then knocked in Kellett and Jacey Turay with a single. The Pride scored the winner in the top of the fifth after the Inferno had come back to tie the game. Stephanie Doting drilled a double and advanced to third on Ally Barsanti’s sacrifice fly. Doting then scored the winner on a passed ball.

Mountain View Nova 7, PRIDE 6

The Pride lost a heartbreaker as elimination play began. After scoring four runs in the top half of the last inning to take the lead, the Pride gave up three in the bottom half of the frame to lose the contest. The tough loss sent the Pride to the loser’s bracket, and left them looking at a long road back. Stepahine Doting and Shayna Osuna each had two hits in the contest.

Stanislaus Sting 12, PRIDE 2

There was no suspense in the closer, as the Pride fell behind early and could not make up the deficit. The Pride showed signs of life in the first, as Amanda Kline made a strong relief pitching appearance, coming in with three runs in and the bases loaded. The Pride got out of that jam with only one more run scoring, but the girls could never pull even, and the Sting put the game away with four runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth.

The Pride finished the season with an overall record of 22-11-1 tie.
