ELK GROVE – The Pride 12U Green team took fifth place in the Elk Grove tournament recently played in the heat.

Pride 8, Revolution 3

JC Clayton started on the mound the first game, and Shayna Osuna was behind the plate. Clayton pitched a good game against the Elk Grove Revolution, striking out five batters. Tanya Ferry gathered up two outs in the fourth inning.

In the fifth inning, third baseman Brooke Willis threw a runner out at home.

Catcher Kourtney Kientzy then picked up the ball and threw out the runner trying to steal second for out number three.

Offensively, Ferry, Kientzy, Vanesa Santoya and Mary Luna hit singles. Santoya, who was 3-for-3, laid down a nice bunt. Kientzy had two solid base hits and a sacrifice bunt.

Pride 12, PAL 0

The Pride played an outstanding game against Santa Clara PAL. Jenna Robertson pitched to Shayna Osuna behind the plate. Osuna caught a pop up to end the top of the first inning.

In the bottom of the inning, Robertson, Osuna, Kourtney Kientzy, Brooke Willis, Vanessa Santoya and Mary Luna all had RBIs to take a 7-0 lead.

Angelica Michel made a great catch in left field during the second inning, and JC Clayton hit a single and a RBI.

Kientzy hit a single in the third inning. During the fourth inning, Tanya Ferry and Robin Nelson laid down beautiful bunts to get on base.

Ferry also made two great throws from center field to first base. The Pride played an errorless game.

Pride 5, Force 6

The San Carlos Force rallied back in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead as time was called.

JC Clayton struck out seven batters in the game and made several nice defensive plays. The Force led the game 1-0 until the fifth inning.

Clayton singled, and then Angelica Michel hit a triple to make score 2-1. Kourtney Kientzy and Brooke Willis bunted to get on base.

Shayna Osuna hit a single, and Kientzy and Willis were able to score. The score was 5-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Pride 7, Slammers 15

The Pride had a difficult game Sunday morning against the San Mateo Slammers, but kept their spirits up throughout the game.

JC Clayton, Willis, Michel, Kientzy,and Nelson hit singles. Ally Bersanti had a great hit down the third base line, but was left on base and not able to score.

The Slammers hit the ball hard in all the right places to win the game.
