Clayton and Susie Schaefer were proud of the girls efforts in their

The 12U Pride Softball team of Morgan Hill took third place in their first tournament of the season over the Memorial Day weekend. The coaches Gene and Penny Ciraulo, Darrell Clayton and Susie Schaefer were proud of the girls efforts in their first tournament.

Pride 2, Hollister Heat 1 2

Jenna Robertson did a great job on the mound as the Pride girls took on the Hollister Heat in the first game of the tournament. Singles were hit by Kourtney Kientzy and Robin Nelson. Allysa Barsanti made an outstanding throw from right field to home, and the tag was made on the runner to keep the Heat from taking the lead. Two Heat players were thrown out as they tried to steal third base. The girls worked well together during their first game.

Pride 5, Los Banos 2

Robin Nelson started the game two with a single. Kourtney Kientzy then laid down a beautiful bunt to advance the runners. During the game, Brooke Willis had a great hit to right field, and Mary Luna also laid down the perfect bunt. The girls played well defensively too. Angelica Michel and Shayna Osuna tagged two runners out who were caught trying to steal second base. The game was called because of time after the Pride put several runs on the board.

Pride 7, Hollister Heat 2 5

Jenna Roberston pitched a terrific game against the Heat. Tanya Ferry made two outs during the second inning, and Mary Luna made two outs during the third inning. Luna, playing first base, threw a runner out trying to advance to third base. Vanessa Santoya had an RBI. Kourtney Kientzy, Angelica Michel, Robin Nelson, Jenna Robertson and Brooke Willis had singles for the Pride.

Pride 16, Gilroy Shockers 0

The Pride bats were swinging as the girls scored sixteen runs during their first game Sunday morning. Angelica Michel hit a triple, scoring two RBIs. Kourtney Kientzy, playing first base, made a great catch on a pop up near home plate. Brooke Willis caught a hard hit line drive at third base. Shayna Osuna threw out a runner trying to steal second. Michel hit a triple and a double.

Hollister Heat 2 5, Pride 0

Although the Pride girls had several hits during the game, the ball seemed to always be hit right at the opponent. Brooke Willis had a solid hit past the shortstop to get on base. Vanessa Santoya then had a beautiful sacrifice bunt advancing Brooke to second base. Unfortunately, Brooke was left on base and not able to score. Defensively, Kourtney Kientzy made all three outs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Tanya Ferry made a great catch in right field to stop more runs from scoring. JC Clayton pitched a good game with eight strikeouts.

Pride 10, Los Banos Storm 9

Angelica Michel got things doing for the Pride in the top of the first inning by hitting a home run. She scoring three runs in the game. In the bottom of the first inning, Tanya Ferry at left field, picked up an overthrown ball at first to throw the runner out trying to advance to second. The girls went into an international tie breaker in the sixth inning and each team scored one run. During the seventh inning, the Pride scored three runs and Los Banos scored two.
