Eleven-game win streak snapped with 57-55 loss
SAN JOSE — Larry Melton had 20 points, and John Williams scored 14 Wednesday as Evergreen Valley beat Sobrato 57-55 in San Jose, snapping the Bulldogs’ 11-game win streak.

Sobrato (15-6 overall, 10-1 league) still holds a one-game lead in the Santa Teresa Division with three contests remaining. The Bulldogs visit Del Mar at 7 p.m. Friday.

Ryan Williams collected 17 points and 10 rebounds, Pierre Hemphill scored 11 points, and Bryan Bradley netted 10 plus six assists for Sobrato.

The Cougars (15-6, 8-3) have won two straight.

Live Oak 60, Yerba Buena 49

The Acorns recorded their first road win in West Valley Division play Wednesday to snap a three-game slide and stay alive in the Central Coast Section playoff race.

Michael Schreiber led Live Oak (8-13, 5-6) with 20 points, Kevin O’Rourke had a career-high 12 points, and Cody Gallizioli and Nathan Seifert scored 10 apiece.

Ricky Rivera poured in 20 points to lead the Aztec Warriors (2-19, 1-10).

Stretch run next for first-place SHS

Behind two goals apiece by Nika Burnett and Jennae Cambra, plus another score by Marissa Benjamin, the first-place Lady Bulldogs blasted host Piedmont Hills 5-0 Wednesday, keeping a one-game edge over Prospect in the Santa Teresa.

Sobrato (8-2-6, 6-1-4) will play its first of two consecutive road games at 3:15 p.m. Friday against Westmont before hosting a regular-season finale next Friday against Mount Pleasant.

Live Oak 5, Evergreen Valley 2

The first-place Lady Acorns will play their last three games at home against some of the toughest teams in the Mount Hamilton. Wednesday, they stayed focused on Evergreen Valley.

Fabi Diaz scored two goals, and Amanda Morgan, Jada Williams and Megan Rauschnot netted one apiece for Live Oak (10-3-4, 8-2-1), which plays Leland at 3:15 p.m. Friday and second-place Leigh next Wednesday.
