Morgan Hill’s Poppy Jasper Film Festival opens simultaneously today at three venues, kicking off a three-day bonanza for film buffs that includes 33 shorts and a keynote address by Victor Miller, the creator of the original “Friday the 13th.”

Organizers have clustered different films together to be shown at multiple times throughout the weekend, ensuring audiences can see as much as possible.

Film synopses and a full schedule of screenings is available at www.poppyjasperfilmfest.org. The venues are: The Morgan Hill Community Playhouse at 17090 Monterey Road; Cinelux Theaters at 750 Tennant Avenue; and the Granary at 1500 Depot Street.

Tickets cost $10 for individual screenings, panel discussions, the keynote address and workshops. A “film only” pass costs $50, a weekend pass costs $75, the jurors’ choice films and reception costs $55 and a festival pass costs $110.

The jurors’ choice screening is tonight at 7pm at the Morgan Hill Community Playhouse. The keynote address is scheduled for Saturday, 7pm, at the playhouse.
