Morgan Hill Police continue to search for a man who leaped from his slow-moving car Thursday morning in the Nordstrom School teacher parking lot.

Police at about 10:45am were attempting the stop the man who was driving erratically. The man ran through a school playfield and jumped a fence into a residential neighborhood off Blue Bonnet Way. He was not found during a search of the area.

The man was described as white or Hispanic wearing a brown shirt, dark shorts and a white hat.

There was minor damage to two fences on the campus located at 1425 E. Dunne Ave., said School Principal Kathy Yeager.

At no time were students in danger and most were unaware of the situation, Yeager stressed. She said custodian Wes Stinson began to lock doors to classrooms nearest where the car stopped even before the office was notified of the incident.

Police impounded the auto, a 1990 blue Cadillac registered to a Morgan Hill man. Lt. Terrie Booten said police have been unable so far to contact the owner.

Yeager praised the actions of Stinson and police.
