The whereabouts of a man who allegedly brandished a handgun during a verbal altercation at a Morgan Hill mobile home park are currently unknown, and police warn the public he may still be armed and dangerous.
The incident that started as an argument between the man and his brother brought a large-scale police response to the neighborhood in the area of Monterey and Old Monterey roads Jan. 7.
Morgan Hill Police responded to the scene, the Acadia Mobile Home Park at 18055 Monterey Road, about 1:40pm. Someone called police to report an altercation involving a firearm.
Upon arrival, officers learned the two brothers who lived together at a residence in the park had been arguing when the older brother, Alberto Hernandez, 36, pulled out a handgun, according to a press release from MHPD. Hernandez also allegedly threatened to kill his younger brother during the altercation. The victim was able to safely exit the home and call police.
MHPD set up a perimeter and evacuated surrounding homes while they looked for Hernandez, the press release says. The city’s K9 unit also responded and made multiple attempts to contact Hernandez inside the family’s trailer.
After searching the area and receiving information from witnesses, police learned that Hernandez fled the area before officers arrived, according to MHPD.
Hernandez is currently homeless and may be traveling with unknown friends, police said. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
“Do not attempt to apprehend the subject. Please call 911 to report the location of Hernandez,” the press release continues.
