• Ya Bon Expresso in the Cochrane Plaza shopping center reported a male suspect order coffee for $1.50 and paid with a $100 bill. He decided he had the $1.50 and took back the $100, then he changed his mind and got $98.50 in change, but the employee didn’t realize until later that the suspect had kept the $100 bill. The report was taken on April 28 at 5:02pm.
n A resident of La Crosse Village apartments reported someone broke into a tool box in the bed of his truck overnight and took ratchets, socket sets a volt meter and other items. The report was taken at 6:42am on April 29.
n A resident of Roble Drive reported his mail was stolen. The report was taken on April 29 at 4:24pm.
Grand Theft
n A resident of Claremont Drive reported a box of tools was stolen from the bed of his truck overnight. The box contained power and hand tools and work belts. The report was taken on April 22 at 7:51am.
n A resident of DeWitt Avenue reported an industrial pressure washer valued at $1,000 was stolen from the resident’s back yard overnight between April 22 and April 23. The report was taken at 7:18pm on April 25.
n A resident of Village Way reported tools were stolen from the back of his Chevy pickup. The tools, valued at $2,000, included drill, cable routers, heavy-duty pip threader, extension cords, framing saw, nail gun, roof nail gun and a mini-torch. The report was taken on April 29 at 11:12am.
Vandalism
n A resident of Ciolino Avenue reported a few suspects jumped the fence at the residence and broke a glass table in the backyard. The report was taken on April 29 at 6:07pm.
Auto Burglary
n A Chevy Tahoe parked at the Aquatic Center on Condit Road was broken into. A window was shattered. The report was taken on April 30 at 9:03am.
Child Abuse:
n A therapist at Child Protective Services reported his patient told him his father hits him and has been doing so for years. The report was taken on April 30 at 9:28am.
GILROY POLICE
Drugs:
n Edrel Hilario Hernandez, 22, of Peppertree Lane, Morgan Hill, at 7:01pm Thursday, May 5, at 6310 Chestnut St., on a felony warrant for possession for sale of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor warrant for being present where a controlled substance or narcotic is being used.
SHERIFF’S OFFICE
Drugs:
n Manish Prasad, 25, of 1608 Racket Club Drive in Los Banos, was booked in the Main Jail by sheriff’s deputies at 10:38pm April 23 at Willow Springs and Hale avenues in Morgan Hill for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Pra-sad was also wanted on a $20,000 warrant.
Theft:
• A thief stole the keys from the door of Rocca’s Market on Monterey Highway in San Martin at 9:40am April 13. The victim had left the keys in the door and when he remembered he went to get them, but they were gone.
n James Michael Yamamoto, 42, of 8120 Las Animas Court in Gilroy, was arrested and booked in the Main Jail by sheriff’s deputies at 6:29pm April 14 at Columbet Avenue and Hager Court in San Martin, for possession of stolen property. Yamamoto was arrested on a felony warrant when he was searched and found with a credit card that was reported stolen.
n Michael Dana Redmond, 54, of 2785 Hay Loft Way in Morgan Hill, was arrested and booked in the Main Jail by sheriff’s deputies on April 29, at 1:22am at his home for auto theft and possession of a stolen vehicle, both felonies. Redmond said he had rented the blue 2005 Dodge Caravan from Dollar Rental ‘a while back’ and that the payments should be taken care of.
n A thief stolen a student’s drawing in the Gavilan College library on Santa Teresa Boulevard between 8am April 18 and 6pm April 20. The drawing was on display with 40 other drawings.
