After pulling over a driver who failed to yield to pedestrians, police found two ounces of suspected crystal methamphetamine, plus nine grams of suspected cocaine in his possession, police said.

Jose Cisneros, 35 of Turlock, was pulled over by Morgan Hill Police officer Steve Pennington after he failed to stop for two women and a child who were crossing Monterey Road near Fifth Street Wednesday, Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said. He was pulled over about 4:36 p.m.

Pennington determined Cisneros, who was driving a gray 2004 Toyota Corolla, was driving on a suspended license. Police asked him to exit the vehicle and searched him. Found during the search were a plastic bag containing about two ounces of what police think was methamphetamine, plus another bag with about nine grams of cocaine, Neumayer said.

Cisneros was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession for sale, transportation of a controlled substance for sale, possession and transportation of cocaine for sale, and driving with a suspended license. Neumayer said the suspect’s license had been suspended for a previous DUI conviction.

Cisneros was booked into Santa Clara County Jail, and his vehicle was impounded, Neumayer said.

Suspected drunk driver crashes into telephone pole

A suspected drunk driver crashed into a fire hydrant, a city of Morgan Hill sign, and a telephone pole, and was belligerent when police arrived to the scene, police said.

Morgan Hill officers were dispatched to the single-vehicle accident on Monterey Road about 10:46 p.m. Wednesday, according to Sgt. Jerry Neumayer. The silver 2004 Lexus driven by Arthur Home, 68 of Morgan Hill, was traveling north on Monterey Road. The accident happened south of Burnett Avenue.

A witness told police the vehicle swerved to the right shoulder and run over a city sign before it crashed into the telephone pole, Neumayer said. The car also ran over a fire hydrant, and public works employees were called to the scene to turn off the gushing water valve.

When police arrived, Home was “intoxicated and uncooperative” with police and paramedics, Neumayer said.

He was transported to San Jose Regional Medical Center with complaints of pain to his hip and back, Neumayer said. He was later released on a citation for suspected DUI.
