Auto burglary

Someone broke the rear window of a gray Honda CRV parked outside Anytime Fitness, 715 Cochrane Road, and stole a purse and work bag. Inside the stolen bag were a cell phone and laptop computer. The crime was reported at 6:22pm Dec. 31.

Multiple suspects broke into at least two vehicles parked at the Caltrain lot on Butterfield Boulevard. A witness interrupted the crimes by yelling at the suspects, who fled in a dark-colored four-door Honda. The crime was reported at 10:52pm Dec. 30.

A suspect or suspects broke the windows of a black Hyundai Santa Fe and a Ford Flex, both parked on La Mancha Lane. The crime was reported at 8:51am Dec. 24.

Robbery

An unidentified man grabbed a woman and tried to drag her out of her vehicle in the parking lot of Via Mia Pizza, 16990 Monterey Road. The suspect also tried to take the purse away from the female victim. The suspect fled the area in a black Nissan Xterra. The crime was reported at 7:04pm Dec. 26.

Petty theft

A thief or thieves stole the front license plate off a BMW parked on Black Walnut Court. The crime was reported at 7:58pm Dec. 31.

Four juveniles stole four bottles of vodka from a store on Monterey Road. The crime was reported at 5:05pm Dec. 30.

A group of male teenagers tried to steal two bottles of Hennessy cognac from Fast Stop Food Store, 15878 Monterey Road. The teens grabbed the bottles and ran outside the store, but an employee found the items discarded nearby. The crime was reported at 6:56pm Dec. 23.

An adult male suspect grabbed a bottle of alcohol from Rite Aid, 16000 Monterey Road, and ran out of the store. The theft was reported at 1:54pm Dec. 25.

Municipal code violation

A residence near San Pedro Way repeatedly set off fireworks throughout the evening on New Year’s Eve. The fireworks were reported at 10:50pm Dec. 31.

Accident

A woman was transported to the hospital with a possible broken wrist after an accident at Monterey Road and Spring Avenue. A gray BMW and a gray Subaru were involved in the collision. The accident occurred at 12:10pm Jan. 1.

Fraud

A thief or thieves stole a $250 check from a mailbox on Katybeth Way and cashed the check at an undisclosed location. The crime was reported at 11:54am Dec. 30.

A victim wired more than $11,000 to a suspect who fraudulently claimed the victim had won millions of dollars in the lottery. The crime was reported at 4:22pm Dec. 30 on Oak View Circle.

Someone stole $3,000 from a victim’s Bank of America account with several transactions from a mobile device starting Dec. 9. An employee of the bank told the victim that the suspect or suspects placed malware on the victim’s phone or cloned the device. The fraud continued even after the victim changed the account password. The crime was reported at 9:19pm Dec. 30.

Vandalism

Three juveniles entered Teddy Bear Laundromat, 16905 Monterey Road, and sprayed a fire extinguisher inside the business. The vandalism was reported at 10:27pm Dec. 30.

Someone pried open a community mailbox on Del Monte Avenue and pried open and emptied about 10 of the individual boxes. The crime was reported at 12:23pm Dec. 25.

Stolen vehicle

A thief or thieves stole a gold 1996 Honda Accord from a spot on Del Monte Lane. The theft was reported at 6:08am Dec. 31.

Someone stole a gray Toyota Tacoma from a spot on Barnell Avenue. The theft was reported at 11:38am Dec. 28.

A white 1996 Honda Accord was stolen from a spot on East Dunne Avenue. The crime was reported at 10:19pm Dec. 29.

A vehicle that had been stolen out of San Jose was recovered at the 76 gas station, 14660 Monterey Road, in Morgan Hill. The vehicle was reported recovered at 2:53am Dec. 24.

Someone stole a white Toyota Tacoma from a victim on Monterey Road. The theft was reported at 9:08am Dec. 24.

A red 1993 Honda Civic hatchback was stolen from a spot on Del Monte Avenue. The theft was reported at 9:15pm Dec. 25.

Fight

Police responded to a family fight involving multiple subjects at the Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road, at about 9:42pm Dec. 28. On-site security had called police to assist in removing the fighting subjects. A male adult was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.

Burglary

A suspect or suspects pried open a storage container at the Evergreen Apartments Clubhouse, 1100 Vintage Lane, and stole about $30,000 worth of tools. The suspect or suspects also broke the storage container windows. The crime was reported at 8:26am Dec. 30.

Grand theft

A suspect stole a catalytic converter off a Toyota Prius parked on La Rocca Drive. The theft was reported at 4:07pm Dec. 23. 

Animal control

Someone called police to report two horses were loose on the railroad tracks in the area of the El Toro Fire Station, 18300 Old Monterey Road. Officers determined the two horses were not in danger, and belonged to a man who was camping in the area on his way through Morgan Hill to San Diego. The incident was reported at 9:28pm Dec. 24.
