MORGAN HILL
A Morgan Hill man was booked into Santa Clara County Jail Thursday on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend with a baseball bat and making death threats to the woman who alerted police about the incident.
Morgan Hill police also arrested the Jose Citron’s son, a 17-year-old, for alleged possession of an illegal weapon. Police say they found a fixed-blade knife concealed in his pants. He was later released to another family member.
Citron, 34, was charged with spousal abuse, assault with a deadly weapon, intimidating a witness and making criminal threats, said Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing.
The Wednesday night incident on Serene Drive was reported to police at approximately 8 p.m., although the woman who called police later said the aggression had started earlier in the car after the couple got in an argument.
Police were not able to find a vehicle in the area that matched the description given to them by the woman helping the alleged victim, who also would not tell officers where they were the night of the incident preventing them from investigating the case further.
The woman went to police on Thursday and gave them more information about the incident. She also told them Citron threatened to kill her because she reported the incident to the police, Swing said.
Officers staked out Citron’s home Thursday evening. He and his son were in the garage, and they were arrested without incident.
