Palo Alto resident Jim Seki defeated a solid field of professionals and amateurs to capture this week’s Pepsi Tour event at Coyote Creek Golf Club.
Posting a two-day total of even-par 144, Seki was trailed by San Jose’s John Ellis (149) and Santa Clara’s Ryan Sloane (150) in the Open Division, which features the West Coast’s rising professional golf stars and highly-ranked amateurs.
Ellis, who took second place in the event, is a Live Oak grad and a former Gavilan College student.
Currently in its 11th year hosting tournaments on the West Coast, the Pepsi Tour includes players that have competed at the highest levels of golf, including NCAA Division I and the PGA, Champions and LPGA Tours.
Also taking place at Coyote Creek was the Pepsi Tour’s Indexed Division Net Competition, where golfers of all skill levels are grouped by ability according to handicap index.
Winners of the indexed net competition were Ken Gonzales (Union City), Dominador Bonilla (Sacramento), Jacob Bowden (Carmel), John Hunt (Rocklin) and Rich Shetka (Stockton).
