Sobrato senior Patrick Read met a Central Coast Section qualifying standard and took part in four first-place finishes to help the Bulldogs beat Willow Glen 131-46 on Friday and remain unbeaten in Santa Teresa Division dual meets.
The Sobrato boys moved to 2-0, while the SHS girls fell to 1-1 with a 96-84 loss to the visiting Rams, also Friday. Christiana Bridges was a bright spot for the Lady Bulldogs, collecting three wins and a CCS qualiying standard in the 500-yard freestyle (5:19.21).
Read made the cut in the 100 butterfly (56.24) and also swam in the 200-medley relay and the 200- and 400-free relays, which the Bulldogs swept.
Logan Bleeg won four events (200-medley relay, 50 free, 100 backstroke, 400-free relay) as well for Sobrato, and Adam Jasper (200-medley relay, 200 free, 400-free relay) and Rich Tomas (200-individual medley, 200 free, 400-free relay) three.
Along with the 500 free, Bridges took first in the 200 free and 400-free relay with Gabrielle Smith, Lauren Akin and Devon MacDonald.
Smith also won the 200 IM, and Akin the 100 back.
Boys golf
Sobrato is off to a 3-0 start in the Santa Teresa Division, with its latest win coming Tuesday against Lincoln at San Jose Municipal Golf Course.
The Bulldogs won 246-257.
- Live Oak climbed to 2-2 this week on back-to-back victories over Willow Glen in Mount Hamilton Division play.
The Acorns won 208-243 Monday at Summitpointe, led by Cameron Moeller’s round-best 3-over-par 39, and 215-227 Tuesday at the Cinnabar Hills Lake Course, where Live Oak’s Michael Jarvis was medalist at 4-over 40.
Softball
Live Oak’s Circle of Champions tournament run began with an 8-1 loss in five innings to league rival Westmont on Saturday at the Salinas Sports Complex.
Sophomore Elsa Monterrey scored and collected one of the Acorns’ two hits.
