No urgent need to develop Southeast Quad at this time
Dear Editor, This is clearly the generation of "me," the richest generation, a self-centered generation that has lost its sense of world community. As nation we gobble up resources and distribute waste without consideration of any of those who will follow after. We give back very little. We are paying less tax than in 50 years, and it seems that richer you are the less you pay.
As we do nothing to move from oil, we incur even greater costs
Dear Editor, W.R. Blakley's letter misses an important point most of us never consider. A 42-gallon of oil produces only 19 gallons of gasoline. The remaining portion is used for a partial listing of 6,000 other products from soft contact lenses to antihistamines (www.ranken-energy.com/Products%20from%20Petroleum.htm).
Let’s put the High Speed Rail project to bed for good
Dear Editor, there has been a huge amount of effort and argument both pro and con regarding the proposed and incredibly expensive high speed rail system. It is time to wrap it up.
