Dear Editor,
I want to take this opportunity to brag about the citizens of Morgan Hill. As a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, I agreed to a chair this year’s Relay For Life.
Last year, in its fourth year in Morgan Hill, this 24-hour event held at Oakwood Country School, hosted more than 45 teams representing local businesses, community groups and individuals. Teams gathered donations and were represented on the track at all times during the 24-hour period. When participants were not walking or running, they participated in many fun activities or rested in tents erected on the inside of the track.
With this kind of support, we’ve demonstrated the strength of our community and our commitment to working towards a cancer-free world. Our community stands to serve as a model for our neighbors and to challenge them to top our success.
This year, the event will be May 20 and 21, again at the Oakwood Country School. Fundraising is off to a great start. Many businesses and individuals have already helped sponsor, and teams are already registering. I want to personally thank Johnson Lumber Ace Hardware for becoming the first Platinum Sponsor for this year.
Thanks to all of Morgan Hill for your continued support. If you are interested in sponsorship or having your own team, please give me a call at 782-5221.
Steve Barsanti, Morgan Hill
