Nob Hill Foods in Vineyard Town Center and its customers celebrated the end of 10 months of construction Wednesday with a day without ladders, paint odors or dust.

Shoppers were welcomed with a new Java City coffee counter – think lattés, mochas and chai – a full-service bakery and an added hot food section, according to Jennifer Ortega, spokeswoman for Raley’s, the company that bought Nob Food stores from founder Michael Bonfante.

“We’ve also doubled the size of the floral department,” Ortega said, “It’s now full service and staffed full time for made-to-order bouquets.”

The natural foods and organic produce sections have been expanded and customers will find a bigger selection of wines and spirits.

Ortega said the additional square footage came from moving the office space upstairs.

Besides updating an older store – Nob Hill has been there since Vineyard Town Center opened in 1988 – a fresh, new look and expanded service could help the store compete with the new Safeway across the street in Tennant Station.
