Volunteers Made ‘Safe Trick-or-Treat’ a Success

Dear Editor,

There are a few times during the year that the community enjoys some events that are packed with fun for the entire family. The most recent one, the Safe Trick-or-Treat, was no exception. Families showed up in great numbers, some with everyone dressed for the occasion and some with even their pets donned with Halloween attire. The night was a fun time for all and it’s with this letter that I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to some of the unsung volunteers and sponsors that made this event possible.

My first thank you goes to the City of Morgan Hill. City officials made a generous donation to the Morgan Hill Downtown Association to help cover the costs associated with the event making the event safe and comfortable for everyone concerned. Thank you City of Morgan Hill!

My next thank you goes to the Morgan Hill Bible Church, namely Deborah Thimsen Villa and her All Star Kids. They are all stars! Deborah and her crew showed up as early as 3 in the afternoon and from then on devoted their time and great personalities to making sure that everyone was having a good time. From the inflatable rides, to face painting, to a mini baseball game, the kids were having a blast and Thimsen Villa and the All Star Kids were having as much fun, if not more, knowing they had a part in creating the happiness. And when it was all over, they stayed and helped to clean the streets without one complaint! I really couldn’t have done this without their help and I am very grateful.

Finally I would like to thank all the business sponsors of the event. Without them there would be no trick-or-treating. Let’s show our appreciation by supporting them when we’re shopping or needing a place to eat. I look forward to seeing you around downtown.

Thanks For Working on McNerney Campaign

Dear Editor,

The McNerney campaign and I personally would like to thank the residents of Morgan Hill and all of our hundreds of wonderful volunteers for the incredible help and support shown during the last month of the campaign! What an inspiration to see so many turn out week after week to walk, phone, run errands and do what was needed to help deliver one of the most important victories in South County and the 11th Congressional District history!

There are so many to thank, but I must mention a few names; Hamdey of “My Pizza” on Main Street for donating all of those pizzas when we surely would have nearly starved. Charmaine Jabr, who juggled a full time job, a family, her board position with the South County Democratic Club, to organize and inspire us and Jim and Kitty Ross who were just priceless. Special thanks to the South County Democratic Club.

Thanks to all who supported Alex Kennett and his campaign for city council. The coffees, signs and hard work are so appreciated.

And finally thank you for voting and putting up with the calls and the visits from our precinct walkers. You, the citizens of Morgan Hill, are the heroes – you made your vote count!

Swanee Edwards, Morgan Hill
