On page A3 of the Morgan Hill Times’ Friday, June 11, issue, there is an article (“Music not on chopping block”) that presents inaccurate information. The text in question reads “Both middle schools, Britton and Martin Murphy, have band opportunities, including advanced band, cadet band and, at Britton, jazz band.”

To set the record straight, Lewis Britton Middle School offered three sections of co-curricular instrumental music this past school year, intermediate, cadet and advanced. Jazz Band, an extracurricular activity, receives absolutely no funding or support from either the school or district. The teacher does not get paid and the students do not earn credits toward graduation.
