After a difficult season during which the Live Oak High girls basketball team lost more than 20 games, the Acorn girls were left off the all-Tri-County Athletic League team.

According to Live Oak coach Richard Silva, who did not attend the postseason league meetin at which the awards were given out, none of the Acorns would likely have earned all-league honors and none of them deserved all-league consideration anyway.

“We really had nobody who stepped up — who took up the leadership role,” Silva said.

After taking over the Live Oak coaching position after leaving Hollister last year, Silva led the team to a 2-22 overall record and an 0-10 league record.

Silva, who lives in Los Banos, said he is undecided about whether he will return next season. He said he will decide by next month.

Athletic Director Mark Cummins said he is concerned about Silva missing the TCAL’s post-season meeting and will review the girls basketball coaching position in the near future.
