The Morgan Hill Unified School District school board voted unanimously Tuesday night to restructure all aides within the district into a new position. This new position, called a paraprofessional, would see a 5-percent salary increase compared to the current instructional aide position, but at the expense of the paraeducators, who will see a 30-percent cut in their salary.

All schools within Morgan Hill Unified School District will be closed Monday, Oct. 8 due to a furlough for all staff. It’s the only furlough day so far scheduled this year.

The conference is called “No Excuses,” named by students who felt, after last year’s installment, they could be the first in their family to go to college.

On Sept. 11 at its regular school board meeting, the Morgan Hill Unified School District welcomed Denis Guerrero as its latest hire in the district office.

A pair of high-aspiring Gavilan College students – both military veterans who want to become doctors – will be recognized Tuesday during the 7 p.m. school board meeting at Gavilan, located at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. in Gilroy.
