Hwy. 152 Car Accident Kills Aptos Man
Gilroy – A 59-year-old Aptos man was killed Saturday morning in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 152 west of Dinosaur Point.
The man’s name has not been released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.
He was driving westbound on Highway 152 in a Jaguar at approximately 7:55am, and it was raining, according to the California Highway Patrol report. He was apparently speeding when he ran off the road into a dirt embankment. The Jaguar overturned, skidding on its roof back onto the roadway.
The investigating officer discovered the tread on the car’s rear tires was worn down low.
The accident is still under investigation. It was not known by press time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
Westbound Highway 152 was shut down for approximately two hours.
