Dear Editor,
Thank you Mr. Tichinin for helping me to understand what is going on with Measure C and the revitalization of our downtown. Like many voters I thought that under the existing growth control ordinance the downtown area was low priority.
I now understand the city council has made downtown low priority and it can shift the emphasis to downtown re development dollars instead of building permits for more houses and strip malls.
Hopefully your information will motivate us to contact our city council members and tell them what we the people of Morgan Hill want which may be a better small town environment than money in the pockets of developers and bigger tax revenues for the city. If we could develop a “mini Santana Row” in downtown Morgan Hill, I think the city council would be well pleased with the tax revenue. Building a strip mall on Cochrane may help bring in some tax revenue but will certainly not enhance our community values in my opinion.
