Cranks (fans) filled the bleachers at Community Park in Morgan Hill on Sunday for the Bay Area Vintage Base Ball League’s ninth game of its inaugural season.

Struggling with its fielding and an improving opponent, the host South County Jaspers dropped a 7-6 decision to the San Jose Dukes.

Three fourth-inning muffs (errors) led to two Duke runs that proved to be the difference in the game.

Jaspers’ behind (catcher) Justin “Squeak” Keen led the South County offense with four hits and scored one ace (run).

Striker (batter) Kevin “Big Stick” Cooper had a pair of hits and two aces batted in (RBIs).

David “Skip” Rodgers made a nice running catch on a skyball (popup) in the sixth inning to keep the game close.

But in the end it wasn’t enough as the Dukes scored a 7th inning ace to win the game.

The final BAVBBL game to be hosted by the Jaspers will be played at Community Park on Aug. 7 at 10am.

Information about the league, signups and starting a team can be found on the BAVBB website at www.bavbb.com or by contacting Gary “Pops” Cooper at (408) 778-2901.
