A man riding a stolen motorcycle was severely injured after colliding with another vehicle in a south Morgan Hill intersection, according to police.

MHPD officers responded to the intersection of Monterey Road and Tennant Avenue about 1:45pm Sept. 11, on a report of a traffic collision, reads a press release from Morgan Hill police.

When officers arrived, they located the involved vehicles and a male subject in the roadway, police said. The man, a 38-year-old resident of Hollister, had suffered significant injuries and was unresponsive. Police and fire department personnel began to administer emergency rescue efforts before the man was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident remained at the scene and cooperated with police, according to authorities. Officers did not observe any signs of impaired driving.

Witnesses told police that prior to the collision, the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Monterey Road at a high rate of speed, police said. Officers determined the man was riding a stolen motorcycle.

The MHPD Traffic Unit is investigating the collision.
