A Gilroy man was severely injured Thursday morning when the 1993 BMW motorcycle he was riding was struck by a 1990 Chevrolet pickup at the intersection of Hale Avenue and Llagas Road.
Sgt. Troy Hoefling of the Morgan Hill Police Department said Thomas Harris, 32, was heading north on Hale when he was allegedly hit by pickup driven by Thomas Sondgrath, 84, of San Jose. Sondgrath was making a left turn from southbound Hale to eastbound Llagas when the collision occured.

According to Battalion Chief Brad Darbro of the Santa Clara County Fire Department, police closed Hale Avenue so a Calstar helicopter could land. Harris was taken to San Jose Medical Center where he remained in critical condition as of Monday afternoon, according to a hospital spokeswoman
No charges were filed but the investigation is continuing. Anyone having witnessed the collision is asked to contact Officer Stacy Thornburg at the MHPD, 779-2101.
