The sophomore competed in three events at the Blossom Valley Athletic League championships at Mt. Pleasant High and recorded top-eight finishes in each event to advance to the Central Coast Section championships.
Mosbrucker placed fourth in the high jump by clearing 5-feet, 2-inches. She also took eighth in the long jump at 15-10 and eighth in the triple jump with a personal record mark of 33-2.
Lance Wolfsmith joined Mosbrucker in qualifying for multiple events at CCS. The Sobrato sophomore, who placed ninth in the state in Division III in cross country, was third in the 3,200 meters with a time of 9:50.48 and fourth in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:28.65.
Will Cambra was the lone local athlete to garner league champion honors. He qualified for CCS by clearing 11-6 in the pole vault and the event was called due to darkness in the midst of a three-way tie for first between Cambra, Mt. Pleasant’s Anthony Bui and Silver Creek’s Ryan Saldivar-Ellison.
Other top finishers for the Bulldogs include freshman Alan Rios, who took third in the 800 meters at 1:51.30 to advance to CCS.
Junior Abhi Devaraj was third in the girls 3,200 meters with a PR of 11:36.23 to advance, junior Amanda Paul cleared 8-0 in the pole vault to take fourth and move on and freshman Kelly Kreulin advanced with a PR toss of 29-9 1/2 to take sixth in the discus.
Live Oak advanced 10 individual athletes and three relay teams to CCS with its performance at the BVAL championships.
Four Acorns – sophomore Pauline Olsen, junior Katie Armstrong, senior Juillard Robinson and junior Nic Muhn – tied for the school’s best finish by taking fifth.
Olsen ran the 400 meters in 1:01.24, Armstrong cleared 5-0 in the high jump, Robinson clocked a time of 51.77 in the boys 400 and Muhn ran the 300 hurdles in 41.41.
Senior Kevin Abbott qualified for CCS in the 100 meters, clocking a mark of 11.33. Senior Matt Acosta advanced with a throw of 120-8 in the discus to take sixth and the Live Oak boys 4×100 relay team took sixth with a time of 45.08 to qualify.
The Acorns sent two relay teams to CCS with a pair of sixth-place finishes. The 4×100 relay team finished in 51.87 and the 4×400 relay team ran a 4:16.83.
Freshman Erika Rodriguez qualified with a time of 13.12 in the 100 meters, sophomore Courtney Robinson was seventh in the 200 meters at 26.88, senior Kate Lowe cleared 5-0 in the high jump to take seventh and sophomore Denae Chappell was eighth in the discus at 88-4.
They’ll join the top athletes in the section Saturday at San Jose City College for the CCS semifinals. The finals will be May 25 at Gilroy High.
