Dear Editor,
I agree with the letter to the editor in the Times entitled “Make Downtown a Priority!” When we moved to Morgan Hill five years ago, I remember the real estate agent telling us, “Morgan Hill’s downtown is on its way to be another Los Gatos.”
We were so excited to be moving to a community with such a quaint downtown with character – not just strip mall after strip mall. Well, that’s what Morgan hill is turning into – a town full of half-full strip malls.
For example, if Target moves into the new 66-acre mega-center off Cochrane and 101, then what will happen to Cochrane Plaza?
And why do we need a 66-acre mega-center when we can’t even support the shops downtown?
If the developers can get businesses into the mega-center, why can’t the city get businesses downtown? I’m quite confused and would love to hear the city’s reasoning in all of this.
