Morgan Hill resident Gabrielle Gamez has been selected to participate in the National Youth Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., Oct. 3-8.
Gamez, 15, is a sophomore student at Monte Vista Christian High School in Watsonville.
Outstanding high school students from across the country will participate in the conference. The scholars will interact with a variety of personnel who operate within the three branches of government, the news media and the international community. There are 430 members of the U.S. Congress who serve on the Honorary Congressional Board of Advisors that have extended this invitation to future young leaders across the country.
The conference will focus on national issues in a global community, as well as current issues and the news media. Participants will also meet members of Congress and participate in a legislative branch simulation. In past years, speakers have included Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist, White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christine Todd Whitman, and others.
Last year, Gamez was selected to participate in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law in Washington, D.C. Gamez is interested in pursuing a career in international law and business.
