Local residents, veterans and families gathered in downtown Morgan Hill May 25 for a Memorial Day commemoration.

The ceremony, which took place at the Veterans Memorial on Monterey Road at First Street, was organized by Vietnam veteran Eddie Bowers. The Morgan Hill Police Department closed a portion of Monterey Road to vehicles for the brief ceremony.

The event featured a flag raising, reading of the “honor roll” of local veterans who have died in combat, patriotic songs by local students, a prayer and wreath laying.

Some attendees are pictured at the annual ceremony.
