Athletics 13, Phillies 3

Pitchers Zach Riverron, Bradley Higgins and Hunter Kirk held the Phillies to three runs, with Kirk singling and doubling and Higgins finishing a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Billy Bennett, Ryan Reinke and Marcus Alipaz singled for the Athletics, and Jim Castro added a single.

For the Phillies, Jonathan Gaubatz, Michael Hoefling and Ben Hughes pitched.

Giants 8, Rays 6

Giants pitchers Josh Alaniz and Jared Freitas combined to get the win. Teammates David Miller and Travis Moulden doubled, and Anthony Beltramo singled twice.

Alejandro Torres and Steve Facio pitched for the Rays, whose hitting was led by Jeremy Urdiales, who singled twice and doubled. Facio added two singles, and Richard Geraffo doubled.

Red Sox 7, Pirates 6

The Red Sox pitched Riley Burg, Justin Dziuba and Ryan Quadros, with Dziuba striking out seven. Burg tripled, and Quadros doubled.

Ethan Cox struck out eight for the Pirates, and Christian Knowles pitched three scoreless innings. The Pirates’ offense was led by Cox and Cole Griffin, who each doubled, and Sean Martin who tripled.

Yankees 13, Cubs 2

Clay Miller and Jack Affourtit pitched for the Yankees, scattering six hits.

Luke Newquist, Garrison Grisedale and Mike Porras took the loss for the Cubs.

Royals 11, Nationals 10

For the Royals, pitchers Mark Quinby, Patrick Muller and Justin Sanders combined to get the victory. Quinby and Muller doubled and singled, and Cole Campi added a pair of singles. Teammate Giovannia Gonzales made two nice catches in the outfield.

The Nationals were led by Sam Apetekar, who tripled. Troy Moorehead singled twice; and Evan Dean and Brandon Sorce once.
