The outdoor setting was perfect for the western theme called Happy Trails which attracted about 200 guests, including the retirees, their families and friends, and current and former school district personnel.

Entertainment was provided by both the Live Oak Jazz Ensemble directed by Jason Locsin and the Sobrato Jazz Ensemble directed by Erik Kalish. There was a special musical presentation of songs from “Annie Get Your Gun” by district teacher Sandra Lewandowski and Rob Christopher, accompanied by Denise Melroy on the keyboard.

The teacher retirees this year are: Lynda Cooper, Mo Davies, Kathy Hansell, Darrell Hendricks, Pat Jordan, Elaine Knox, Dennis Martin, Jan Sanders and Toby Weiss. They have a combined 213 years of teaching experience.

The classified retirees this year are Carol Borofka, Martha Garza, Frank Rael and Sherrill Sliter. They have a combined 94 years of service to the district.

Through the combined efforts of the members of the retirement committee and the Morgan Hill Historical Society, the Morgan Hill House venue was selected. It is a historical monument which includes the original house, museum and rose garden.
