SUNNYVALE — The Storm, Morgan Hill’s 10U baseball team, won its second of three tournaments entered this fall.

Playing at Twin Creeks Sports Complex and facing off with nine other travel ball teams, the Storm went undefeated (5-0), winning the championship game with an impressive 11-0 victory over the previously unbeaten Coastside Crush.

The Storm started Saturday by defeating the USF Dons 12-1 and Team Kado 11-3. Seeded second, the Storm faced Team Kado again Sunday morning and won 15-5. Morgan Hill followed that with a 9-1 semifinal triumph over the North Cal Grizzlies.

That set the stage for a battle between the only two unbeaten teams. The Storm struck early against the Crush with great hitting and base running. Morgan Hill built a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.

The Storm’s Ricky Martinez earned the tournament’s MVP award. Teammates Ethan Crawford and Nathan Medrano provided great pitching and catching and were supported by outstanding hitting from Billy Mazotti, P.J. Rochon, Nolan Cisewski, Derek Petersend and Chris Turner.

The Storm will close out its fall Season in Manteca this December. Anyone interested in trying out for the Storm is invited to visit the team’s Web site — www.eteamz.com/stormball — and contact coach P.J. Rochon.

The Storm will be preparing this spring and summer for a trip to Cooperstown, N.Y., to battle teams from all over the U.S.
