Both the MH Pop Warner Raider Junior Pee Wee and Juniuor Midget squads went on the road and came away with victories last weekend. Following are the results.

MH Junior Pee Wees 22, Menlo-Atherton Vikings 6

Playing on the road for the first time this year, the Junior Pee Wee Raiders were hosted by the Vikings of Menlo Atherton. The Vikings’ first play from scrimmage resulted in a 55-yard touchdown run. But that was just a mirage of the things to come. It took the Morgan Hill offense a couple of series to get used to the great playing surface of artificial turf at Menlo Atherton High, but once it got rolling the Vikings had no answers.

The Raiders racked up 175 yards of offense while the defense allowed 124.

The victory moved the Raiders’ record to 2-0-1 for the season.

MH Junior Midgets 34, Hollister Vikings 16

The Morgan Hill Raider’s Junior Midgets surprised the Division 1 Hollister Vikings Saturday night with a convincing 34-16 upset.

Traveling to the hostile confines of Hollister’s home field Morgan Hill left no doubt that the Raiders are for real by owning the first half with 22 unanswered points. The Raiders racked up 287 total yards from scrimmage while the defense surrendered 152 yards.

At halftime, the Vikings had a measly nine yards of offense. But with most MH players going both ways, they seemed to tire in the third quarter and Hollister made a comeback, scoring twice. It took the fresh legs of Raiders quarterback Felix Orta, the Silver and Black sealed the deal with two fourth quarter TDs. Orta led MH with 117 yards on 11 carries.
